Sustainable Community Solutions (SCS) is committed to creating an organisation where everyone is treated fairly, feels respected, and can fully participate. Our EDI approach follows Charity Commission guidance and UK equality legislation, including the Equality Act 2010 and recent amendments.
Our Commitment
We work to ensure:
• Equality – fair and equitable treatment for everyone.
• Diversity – valuing different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
• Inclusion – removing barriers so all people can engage and thrive.
Who This Applies To
Our EDI principles apply to trustees, staff, volunteers, beneficiaries, partners, contractors and anyone involved in our work.
How We Put EDI Into Practice
We:
• Embed EDI into governance, policies and everyday operations.
• Provide regular training for trustees, staff and volunteers.
• Appoint a trustee EDI lead.
• Review our policies and activities to ensure they remain fair, accessible and legally compliant.
• Promote inclusive practice in our communications and partnerships.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Trustees oversee EDI across the charity.
• Leadership ensures inclusive practice within their teams.
• Staff & volunteers uphold the policy and raise concerns when needed.
Reporting Concerns
Anyone experiencing or witnessing discrimination, harassment or behaviour that goes against this policy can report it confidentially through our usual complaints and safeguarding channels.
Monitoring & Review
We assess our EDI performance annually, gather feedback and update our policy to reflect changes in law or best practice.
Accessibility
The full policy is shared during onboarding, available to all partners and can be provided in accessible formats on request.
